11월 5일 – The Wonder Sound

The New Children’s Museum, six San Diego Community Centers and artist Wes Sam-Bruce have collaborated to create our largest and most immersive installation to date. Drawing influence from tree houses, empowered neighborhoods, canyons at night, sacred plants, silhouetted mountain ranges in the distance, animals that have never been seen, original stories, forgotten histories, whispered languages, ancient footpaths, imaginary places and the human condition, The Wonder Sound is an entirely new and complex culture that blends fact and fiction, the tangible and the ephemeral. It is a work of art that you physically enter into and discover. Part tree house, part village, part undiscovered world, The Wonder Sound invites you to explore through its many rooms and passageways, going from the real to the unreal, crossing the threshold from the known to the unknown, venturing from the wild to the familiar. Accompanied by an original/experimental soundscape by composer Joel P. West, the installation will take you to strange yet recognizable places. You can learn to read, write and speak the original language created specifically for this project, to name the constellations and to speak the names of the ancestors.

11월 6일 – SDSU Downtown Gallery

With Abandon: Works by SDSU Alumni 2011 – 2016 shares five years of work from the SDSU School of Art + Design alumni. Each artist in the exhibition pays homage to their mentor and a program that celebrates craftsmanship and the hand-made, while creating work in their own individual voice. Surveying approaches from multiple areas of study, the pieces show a common interest in decay, using every-day materials or subject matter as a conduit for contemplation and investigation. Artists include Adam John Manley, Lee Lavy, Kaiya Rainbolt, and Marisa Scheinfeld, among others. Guest-curated by Ginger Shulick Porcella, Executive Director, San Diego Art Institute.

With Abandon is organized by the SDSU Downtown Gallery, in collaboration with guest-curator, Ginger Shulick Porcella, Executive Director of the San Diego Art Institute. Support for the exhibition and events are sponsored by the San Diego State University Art Council, the School of Art + Design, the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts, the fund for Instructionally Related Activities, and Arts Alive SDSU.

In our wintery, watery wonderland, you can enjoy amazing live shows, meet Christmas characters and bask in the glow of Southern California's tallest Christmas tree. SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration is the season meets the sea.

11월 20일 – Art of the Open Air

SDMA will showcase sculptural works from its permanent collection all over the Plaza de Panama (corner of El Prado and Pan American Way). The free exhibition features works from Joan Miró, Auguste Rodin, Tony Rosenthal, and more

11월 26일 – San Diego Jazz Fest

The 37th San Diego Jazz Fest over Thanksgiving will present a variety of traditional jazz music, from ragtime to swing to rockabilly at the Town & Country Resort and Hotel in Hotel Circle. Jazz bands and musicians from across the U.S. will perform.
