This course is suitable for you if you would like to become a confident speaker of English and maximize your ability to use English in everyday situations. Intensive English is a group course which is ideal for learning everyday English with an emphasis on fluent communication and practical language skills. This is a group course with classes of up to 12 or 15 people. The course runs for 1-4 weeks.

Intensive English includes 22.5 hours of English lessons per week, in two parts: 20 lessons (15 hours) of General English, which follows the same programme as our General English courses, and 10 further lessons (7.5 hours) of communication skills, which may be with different students.

The General English component includes everyday English reading, writing and listening with an emphasis on speaking and practical communication in common situations, such as travelling, shopping, and leisure time. There will be support with grammar and pronunciation, and we will also introduce study skills to help you to become an efficient learner and to keep learning when you are out of the classroom. You will follow a course book, and the teacher will also use a range of additional materials.

The Intensive English component focuses on practical communication rather than grammar, and explores a greater range of situations and a wider use of language. Your teacher will choose materials and exercises to suit the interests of the class.

New students can join this course at the start of any week, and we will plan each week’s lessons after discussions with the whole class to make sure that everyone learns the skills that they need.

Your progress will be monitored constantly in a variety of ways. The teachers will give you continuous feedback, assess your work in class, mark your homework, correct your mistakes and encourage self and peer correction. You will receive a certificate at the end of the course which will state the course you have taken and the final level at which you studied.

General English is a group course, with 15 hours per week in classes of up to 12 students (or 15 in high season). This course is suitable for you if you would like to become a confident speaker of English and maximize your ability to use English in everyday situations. On the course you will develop your language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking), improve your knowledge of grammar and learn how to use it in practice. You can join the course every Monday (or the first Monday of the month if you are a beginner). The course runs for 5-7 weeks.

The course will cover everyday English reading, writing and listening with an emphasis on speaking and practical communication in common situations, such as travelling, shopping, and leisure time. There will be support with grammar and pronunciation, and we will also introduce study skills to help you to become an efficient learner and to keep learning when you are out of the classroom.

The syllabus is based on the Common European Framework of Reference. The content of the lessons is adapted to your needs and interests. All students have the opportunity to discuss, negotiate and plan the week’s work with their teacher and fellow students.

The course will usually follow a course book, but we will also use a wide range of materials, including real-life listening and video examples, authentic texts and on-line resources.

New students can join this course at the start of any week, and we will plan each week’s lessons after a discussion with the whole class to make sure that everyone learns the skills that they need.

We will check your progress throughout your stay: your teacher will let you know how you are doing in class, mark your homework and correct mistakes as well as giving you progress tests. We will adapt the lessons according to the results. At the end of the course you will receive a certificate stating the course you have taken and the level at which you have finished.

Cambridge Exam Preparation

We offer First Certificate in English (FCE), Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), and Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE).

Our well-established and expert examination team provides the students with a comprehensive preparation for these examinations. The lessons are structured to focus on grammar and vocabulary building, with specific focus on the skills and knowledge needed for the examination. Students can expect to be given comprehensive practice of past papers and a thorough education in exam techniques. It should be noted that there is an expectation that the students have a certain degree of homework in order to prepare them fully for the exams.

Our Business English Course is topic based and designed to provide a flexible learning programme. The focus is on functional language in specific situations. The lessons are largely task based and are planned to extend vocabulary, improve pronunciation, provide practice and develop confidence and fluency in a lively and communicative way. The course is suitable for students who would like to be effective communicators in a variety of business contexts.
