Known as the "Gateway City," ?St. Louis is rich in American history. The giant stainless steel Gateway Arch, standing 192 meters high on the banks of the Mississippi River, symbolizes the cultural invitation St. Louis offers to its visitors. St. Louis claims a number of significant cultural gems. Forest Park is larger than New York City’s Central Park and contains the city’s free zoo, art museum, science center and history museum. There's also the City Museum, which combines art and fun through recycled architecture. St. Louis is a place where history and imagination collide. The result is a city like no other. You'll find exceptional music, arts and cultural options. There are more free attractions than any place outside of Washington D.C. The free attractions include the Saint Louis Art Museum, Zoo, Science Center, Missouri History Museum, Grant’s Farm, Laumeier Sculpture Park, the Museum of Westward Expansion, and the Anheuser-Busch brewery tour. There are also dozens of unique shops and restaurants that contribute to St. Louis’ unique charm and multicultural flair. One of St. Louis' newest landmarks is Citygarden, a two-block oasis in the shadows of downtown's high-rises. Walk amid lush landscaping and world-class modern sculpture, get your feet wet in the "spray plaza" or people-watch from the glass-walled gourmet cafe.
