Choate Rosemary Hall

1890년 설립돼 1백년의 역사를 자랑하는 Choate는 필립스와 함께 미국의 최고 우수 고등학교로 한국의 학부모들에게도 잘 알려져 있으며, 반에서 5%내에 드는 극소수의 학생만이 입학이 가능한 학교이다.

이 학교에는 정규 ESL클라스도 없어서 사실상 영어로 대화와 작문이 가능한 학생만이 받아들여지고 있으며 이런 이유로 현지의 외교관 자녀 등 이미 미국에 유학 가있는 중학생들이 고등학교 과정으로 입학하는 학교이며, 한국에서 바로 유학 가기는 극히 어려운 학교 중 하나이다.

미국 코네티컷 주 중남부에 있는 뉴헤이번 군의 읍. 뉴헤이번 북동쪽의 퀴니피액 강가에 있습니다. 인디언 추장의 아들 몬토웨이로부터 1638년 웃옷 12벌을 주고 사들인 땅에 건설되었습니다. 1667년 뉴헤이번에서 분리된 뒤 백인 이주민에게 개방되었습니다. 처음에는 '이스트리버'라고 불렸으나, 1670년 읍이 되면서 영국에 있는 왈링퍼드의 이름을 따서 개칭되었습니다.
1853년에 형성된 왈링퍼드 자치구가 1958년 읍으로 통합되었습니다. 이 읍의 은제품 산업은 1835년 브리타니아 제품 생산을 계기로 시작되었으며, 지금은 제조업이 다양화되어 있습니다. 1977년 소년들을 위한 현대식 예비학교였던 코에이트 학교(1896)와 로즈메리홀이 합병되어 남녀공학인 코에이트로즈메리로 되었습니다. 면적 101㎢, 인구 40,798(1996).
