호주 추석 CHUSEOK ft. YOUNGJOO SONG

한인 재즈 피아니스트 송영주씨와 드러머 이상민씨가 재즈명가 ‘블루노트’에서 추석을 주제로 한 공연 ‘Chuseok at Blue Note’를 선보인다. 오는 10월 1일 오후 8시에는 송씨가 무대에 오르며 같은 날 오후 10시30분에는 이씨가 블루노트 무대를 장식한다.

버클리음대를 졸업한 송씨는 제9회 한국대중음악상 최우수 재즈·크로스오버 연주부문에서 수상했다. 또 지난 5월 블루노트 단독 공연을 선보이며 화제에 올랐다. 역시 버클리음대를 졸업한 이씨는 가수 이적이 보컬로 활동하던 그룹 긱스(Gigs)에서 활동했던 드러머로, 현재 뉴욕에 거주하며 가끔 한국에서 가수 이소라 등 뮤지션들과 함께 공연한다. www.bluenote.net
 
Young joo Song is one of Korea’s leading Jazz pianists. After graduating Berklee College of Music and Manhattan School of Music, she was able to exponentially climb Korea’s Jazz charts in record sales and popularity where she then had multiple opportunities to perform with some of the most prominent artists from both Korea and the US.

Her prompt escalation in the Jazz world enabled her to record eight albums with distinguished labels such as EMI, Warner and Sony of which “Free to Fly” was nominated for the Korean Music award in 2009, and “Love Never Fails” which won Korea’s “Best Jazz Album” in 2010. Her new album “Tale of a City” won the “Best Jazz Performance” at the 2012 Korean Music Award. Young joo Song recorded and performed with some of the most prominent jazz musicians; including Steve Wilson, Mark Turner, Seamus Blake, Gretchen Parlato, Kendrick Scott, Marcus Gilmore, Vicente Archer, Rogerio Boccato.

Young joo Song continues to extend her love and knowledge of Jazz by teaching at multiple universities in South Korea. She shares her personal experiences with gospel and classical genres in her correlation to Jazz.

She plans to reach as many hearts and ears in hopes to share her passion and appreciation for Jazz on a global level.
