Italian soprano Norma Fantini appears for the first time with Opera Australia in the title role of the Ethiopian princess in this popular production ? Graeme Murphy’s spectacular vision of Ancient Egypt.

 

He fills the stage with kaleidoscopic movement and lavish costumes as the massed chorus, dancers and soloists dazzle the eye and ears with some of the most thrilling music in opera.

Verdi’s epic drama of the princess sold into slavery also stars Rosario La Spina as her lover, the Egyptian general Radames. Milijana Nikolic, as Aida’s mistress Amneris who also loves Radames, completes a fatal triangle: will Aida choose love or her country?
