With half a century of professional experience as a soloist, Montreal’s Janina Fialkowska has remained one of our country’s most acclaimed and accomplished classical pianists. She joins the Toronto Symphony Orchestra to perform the Piano Concerto by Polish composer Witold Lutoslawski (whose centenary is this year), with the baton wielded by guest conductor Janes Gaffigan.
 
The concert opens with Antonn Dvork’s Carnival Overture and climaxes with a performance of Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 2, known for its joyous, pastoral tone. Janina Fialkowska made her solo debut with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra when she was 12 years old; today, she remains a prolific recording artist.
