A Century of Chinese Cinema

TIFF celebrates Chinese cinema in their latest series with over 80 titles of important Chinese films, and free visual arts exhibition.

The series will present some of the most popular and influential Chinese films of all times, divided into five themes: The Golden Age, which focuses on 30s and 40s Shanghai classics; A New China, films that were made after the establishment of the People’s Republic of China; Swordsmen, Gangsters and Ghosts: The Evolutions of Chinese Genre Cinema which features popular martial arts films that first brought Chinese cinema to the world stage; New Waves, the art films of the 80s and 80s; and New Directions, a look at the daring and innovative films in modern China.
